Upon receiving it I have used it a total of 2 times... that's right, 2. Now, before you think I'm crazy, I just haven't had anything to use it for. Until now...

My son LOVES trains. His room theme is kind of a mix between trains/automobiles/blues/greens/oranges. I originally was going to do this project with car cut outs but after I found this cut from the Silhouette store I knew trains it would be. He was SO excited when he saw them on his wall! Totally worth the 2 months it's taken me to make them. I am a slacker...

This project started out with the idea of vinyl cut outs but I decided to go the <strike>harder</strike> cheap way and just paint them on. Glad I went that way.

Doing an easy crafting project with stuff you already have lying around!

I got this box of frames off Freecycle a couple of months ago. I know, score right? But I haven't done a thing with them since. I am lame...

My husband thinks they're just taking up room but wont he be surprised when he comes home from work and discovers I actually did something with them. Or at least one of them!

I got the cute printable for the 9 Be's HERE. It makes an 8x10 sized printable.

That frame looks cuter then it actually was that color. When I spray painted it black, the brown was still showing through, giving it an antiqued looked that I liked.

I just glued it on, didn't do a backing {which I would suggest you do} So it's kinda free floating in the frame.

Done and done! Easy Peasy

I saw this idea in a DIY magazine and I've seen it floating around blogland too. I finally just sat down and did it and it took a whole 5 minutes. I was kind of put of at first by how big I made the letters but Its growing on me!

Super easy! Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-10819561994273553332011-07-17T11:21:00.000-06:002011-07-17T11:21:47.102-06:00Crafting ProjectsWe have officially been in our home for 2 months now. What a crazy experience it has been! Now that I've finally taken time to sit down and upload pictures, here are some projects I've worked on in the last little while.

Flag Blocks

You can find the tutorial for these HERE . This is one of my favorite blogs!

Cherry Tone Firecrackers

I saw these at Quilted Bear for 20 bucks! Can you believe a cherry tone timber is only 1.97 at Home Depot? So I made my own and they turned out way cute! You can also make pumpkins for Halloween with them.

Bamboo Candlesticks

I found these bamboo candlesticks at Tai Pan for 2.25 each. They were originally green, and there were 4 of them. I glued them together and made these two big ones instead. I spray painted them black and tada! I like how they turned out.

Painted Letter

This "G" is from JoAnns, Painted black with craft paint. I think it will eventually go on a shelf when we hang one.

Hurricane vase

I already have the tutorial for this on my blog. I got the twine balls at Walmart. The apples and grass came from the dollar store.

Refinished Table

This was one of the first projects I did in our new house. It has been one of the hardest by far as well! Notice how the chairs don't match? That's because they suck. We are in the process of finding new ones, but haven't come across some we love (for a decent price). We got the table and 3 chairs on KSL for 30 bucks. Not bad. I do have before and afters for this project that I may post eventually!

So that's what I've been up to!Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-46557498309813939932011-07-02T10:55:00.000-06:002011-07-02T10:55:39.307-06:00Wow!I think I'm fired from blogging.

2 months is how long it's been since I've done any sort of post!!
Moving has really taken it's toll on my actual computer time {unless I'm reading}. I did take some pictures recently and will post soon!!

Back to ignoring the blog! LOLKeldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-23049326769813085712011-04-09T11:05:00.000-06:002011-04-09T11:05:11.863-06:00Hurricane VasesMy comma button is broken so bare with my puncuation mistakes!

I cant believe its almost been a month since Ive posted! With Boden's grandpa's funeral and house hunting. Dont forget the hours of Tangeled we've watched; its just been so hectic around here! But in honor of finding a house we liked; I made these vases that ive been planning on doing for awhile now. I finally found candlestick holders at the dollar store; which was perfect for this. In her tutorial which you can find HERE she has all different sizes of vases and candlesticks and you'll be able to see what she used them for.

Make sure you let them dry completely! I had them in my hand by the candlestick holder and the top flew off!
I got both the vases and holders at Dollar Tree which makes them 2 dollars each!

Of course my silly son thinks theyre toys!
She was born 39 years ago today and was premature. It makes me feel good to know that we'll one day get to meet her.

I always wonder if it was coincidence or not that Jared died on her birthday. Everything happens for a reason right? It's been a long 5 years. I dont think I'd ever imagine making it this far and being okay. It's hard to forget the pain I felt for a long time after he passed. It's hard to forget the hours I sat at his grave, crying because I didn't know how to feel. It still hurts when I think about him, but now it makes me smile. When I think about him, I think about the good memories we shared, not of his death. I celebrate his life, and the time we had with him.

I made a list of some of my memories that I dont want to forget:
He taught me how to drive a stick shift and didn't laugh (or cry) when I killed it.
He came to every basketball game and let me scream and cry on the way home when we lost in the semi finals my junior year.
He took me to see Dave Chappelle, he didnt even hesitate to stop and ask for directions when we got lost.
He helped me ditch class...
He would sit outside my house with his radio blasting and text me "I'm outside of your window with my radio"
He took me to see my favorite band twice and bought me two shirts. We laughed the whole time and took pictures of us together (which went undeveloped in the car he was driving when he crashed)

I wont forget:
The countless hours cruising up and down state street because we didnt know what we wanted to do.
LOTS of Costa Vida!
Driving all the way to Salt Lake to see Hawthorne Heights even though the show had been cancelled.
Watching him get his tongue pierced and laughing when he swallowed the ball and he thought he had to have surgery to remove it.
Coming home to him standing on the ladder on the side of my house helping Weston put the christmas lights up!
When he left me at his house while watching Fantastic Four in spanish with his mom. Then her trying to ask me if I wanted cake in the little english she spoke... and not coming back for TWO hours!!
The countless hours spent talking in the car doing absolutely nothing.
Finding my batman blanket on my car.
The hug and kiss his mom gave me at the funeral. It was an amazing feeling, not knowing each other well, not speaking the same language but understanding each other perfectly.

One of my favorite memories was at my sister's wedding. He had brought me a dozen roses and a single one for both my mom and sister. I was so embarrassed at the time with all the "ooooo's" I got when I brought them into the church. We sat outside in the hall when I didn't have to stand in the reception line and laughed.

I am so thankful for the time I had with him. I am very happy with everything he did for me, and the things he taught me. I miss him, but I know he's in a better place.

RIP Jared Rodriquez 09.25.86 - 03.18.06
We've had lots of sickness going around and its been hectic. I haven't been using my downtime to blog, that's for sure!! (I'm doing this from my phone as we speak while netflixing Desperate Housewives).

So a little tidbit from this passed week, just to embarrass my son when he gets older. I've gotten him to go around and tell everyone...

"I pooped in tub!!"

LOL!! That's the kind of night we had the other day... Not fun, and that's what husbands are for! To clean up the messy parts of life ;)Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-24760213379585975642011-02-24T13:21:00.000-07:002011-02-24T13:21:23.555-07:00Cancer sucks!4 years ago today our basketball team won state. We had an amazing group of girls, and our 7 seniors said goodbye to high school that year. We'll always remember the date because it just so happened to be Jane Anne's birthday! It's hard to see such a close knit group of girls go their separate ways after high school but we still keep in touch.

Recently, one of those girls was diagnosed with cancer. She currently plays on BYU's Women's basketball team and they are very supportive of her and her journey in fighting this disease. So today, in honor of Alexis, Jane Anne's Birthday, and our amazing win for the state championship, we all wore our rings!

He's currently in the kitchen cooking me breakfast and it smells delicious! 3 years and counting :)
He makes me so happy and I couldn't ask for a more amazing husband.Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-24205005680543106292011-02-09T17:32:00.000-07:002011-02-09T17:32:14.958-07:00Wordless Wednesday...kinda Okay not really.

So I know this two year old...

Who likes to talk. He's a mocking bird and will say anything that you do. It's when he says something on his own is when its funny. Half of what he says doesn't make any sense, but when it does it's really funny.

Like the other day in the car. I had said something which came with a prompt response of "ugh... mom, c'mon!'
And when he grabs my fat roll and says "It's so fluffy!"
He always breaks my heart when he cant find me and starts crying, "Be right back?"
But I love it when he sings. He loves to sing. Which is probably an understatement.

I love this boy, and he says a lot of words now that he's growing up, and it couldn't make me any happier. It's so funny how someone so small can make everything in your world that much better.

It puts a smile on my face.

I had my wedding song picked out for years. It's by a small little band out of Duluth, MN. I fell in love with their music from the moment I first heard them. This song is just so perfect and I love that it is ours. I bet a handful of people have maybe danced to this song at our wedding and that makes it that much more special.

So here are the lyrics.

I've been waiting and patiently praying, for this moment all my life
And I never, thought I'd ever, feel so glad to be alive...
I've spent so many years dreaming of this, I'm long overdue
And finally all my dreams are happening, in an ideal form of you...
Let's take this moment, squeeze it and hold it, for the rest of our lives,
then the time will never come to say goodbye...
I may not be perfect, but I'll always be there
Because I know you're worth it, you're the answer, to all of my prayers...

And here's a link to the video of the song because it's simply beautiful...
I've had no motivation whatsoever to craft. It's bad enough that I've only used my new Silhouette ONCE!!! So I went to my Google Reader and looked through things I could try out and thats when I found THIS. Rosettes were a big thing last year and I finally sat down and tried my own. I never realized how easy they were!! Sara at Craft Snob has lots of different flower tutorials you can try out and I've added her blog to my Google Reader!

Here's my take on them:

Mine aren't as pretty as hers but I love it!

I just hot glued them to the headband, maybe a little weird, but whatever works for me! LOL

Ah well, tomorrow is another day.Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-31842732744979827582010-11-29T20:00:00.001-07:002010-11-29T20:00:01.586-07:00Spruce up your metal starsAs I was looking at my cricut cartridges, I notice that most have tags you can cut out. I plan to make tags for christmas (PLAN to! make that note.) I decided to try it out first and see how I liked it. Then I came up with this brilliant idea. I was going to put the tags on my stars since I didn't want to repaint them.

All I did was cut out 4 inch tags with my Jubilee cartridge. I cut out another 3 1/2 inch tag and cut the top off to glue in the middle.

I had bought this little alphabet stamp set for a dollar at Roberts the other day. I used a black ink pad and stamped what I wanted onto the tag itself. The red one doesnt have any sayings since it was too dark for the ink LOL

Easy and cheap!Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-28967513124902126522010-11-28T08:00:00.002-07:002010-11-28T08:00:03.002-07:00Christmas Blocks!Did you know that Home Depot sells their scrap wood for 51 cents? What a stinkin deal. And since I work at the big orange box I come across these deals pretty frequently. Like these blocks! They were selling 3 for 51 cents and scooped them up as soon as I saw them.

This project is easy peasy. All you need is:

4x4 blocks

Scrapbook Paper

Mod Podge

Red paint (I used spray paint I got at walmart for 97 cents)

Cut out vinyl

A book

Antiquing spray/ink pad

If you dont have access to vinyl (I use my cricut) you can print out your letters onto the scrapbook paper and cut them out. I used to All Mixed Up cartridge for the "JOY" and the Jubilee cartridge for "Ho Ho Ho".

First, sand down the corners of your blocks. This will help take off the rougher edges on the corners.

Next you're going to paint the blocks red (or whatever color you decide).

Don't tell my dad I used his garden to spray my blocks. Notice how the bottom is red too? LOL

If you're not going to use vinyl, print out your sayings before cutting out the paper! :)

The next step is cut out your paper. I found christmas paper at Roberts for 99 cents (you can obviously get them cheaper with a coupon, and their paper is on sale right now!) It's double sided so I only had to use 3 sheets.

Next is the mod podge! I use a small sponge paint brush to dap onto the block. This is where the book comes in handy. I did 2 sides, then set the book on top to put weight on them since the paper was curling.

Notice the bubbling at the bottom? My paper was a titch bigger then the blocks so my bubbling got bad!

After you've finished gluing on all your paper let it dry. If it looks funny, dont worry! We'll fix that in the next step.

See how my paper is too big?

Once it dries we are going to sand all the edges again. This will take off the excess paper and give it a nicer finish.

Now to add the vinyl. I think this is self explanitory. You can really add whatever you want. You don't need to do "Ho Ho Ho" or "JOY". Those were the only ones I could think of! I did have some christmasey cut outs on my Doodlecharms cartridge, but I figured I wasn't going to turn them often enough to put more then 2 saying on them!

When you finished this step, seal your paper with another layer of mod podge. It will look white, but it dries clear, dont worry. I also used a Walnut Antiquing Spray to give it a vintage finish. You can use an ink pad as well around the edges if you'd like. You don't need to do that step if you don't want to!

And you're done! See? Easy peasy!

I love them. They're cheap, easy, and cute.

This is where I put them in our room (since we live with my parents it's hard to have lots of decor!)

Stay tuned and I'll show you what I did to add some christmas cheer to my stars!Keldenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00076484621911470544noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6521522505050518609.post-67706063284602611802010-11-27T10:17:00.000-07:002010-11-27T10:17:48.509-07:00What I've been up toMy mom found this chalkboard while we were organizing and set it aside for the kids to draw on. I didn't realize that until AFTER I redid it, but it turned out cute!

This was color of the wood before...

Anyway, so this was quite the exciting project when it came down to it. Why you ask? Because I messed up big time. I made my way to one of my favorite stores: Roberts. Ask my hubby, he says I'm there everyday (im not... really, well... maybe). I had the perfect paint color in my mind and went to the browns to pick it out. I had found it! A nice dark mocha like brown. The name of the color was Burnt Carmine. I had no idea what carmine is, but it sounds brown right? Nope. Carmine is a deep red! So what does "Burnt Carmine" mean? PURPLE!

Not the color I had planned.

This is the bottle and how it deceived me...

Doesnt that look BROWN?!?

The lighting in the store was oh so deceiving. So I took a medium brown, mixed it with this color and ended up with this:
\

I thought it turned out cute.

There's nothing like molding a picture into something amazing, well, at least amazing to me. I still suprise myself everyday with what comes out of my camera...

This little guy was one of those obstacles that you don't realize scare the crap out of you until you're faced with it. I had always admired the pretty newborn pictures photographers take. But I didn't know if I could do it. I was nervous. But since the opportunity presented itself when my cousin in law had her baby I had to take the chance. I think they turned out beautifully!
I went 9 days over my due date, and was finally induced. It took me 32 hours in the hospital, sausage toes, and a c-section to finally hold that little guy in my arms.

39 weeks

This little guy came out a whopping 9 lbs 12 oz and 20.5 inches long.

It was the most amazing feeling holding him in my arms for the first time. And he was so heavy!

This little boy has grown up so much in the passed 2 years! He amazes me everyday.

He sings, he dances (oh boy can he dance), he laughs, he cries, and he can throw the meanest, baddest temper tantrum around.
I couldn't ask for a better son. He makes me laugh so hard, and the things he says are so funny.
